Goal – To learn ALL 66 books of the Bible in their proper order.
Marvelous Light Christian Ministries bases its doctrine, structure, and beliefs on the entire Bible; the Old and New Testament.
The Bible was first written upon nature, next upon man’s conscience, then the fundamental principles upon the tables of stone. Later the entire scriptures contained a larger and more complete edition. In due time Jesus appeared as the perfect embodiment of the truth which He illustrated in His own sinless life it was the divine purpose that the law, at last, should be written in the hearts of men, and the final publication of its precepts be found in their outward lives.
The word Bible comes from the Greek word biblia meaning books or a collection of books. Although the Bible is in one volume, it is a collection of books. There are thirty-nine books in the O.T. and twenty-seven in the N.T., which have been in use since the second century to distinguish the Jewish scriptures from the Christian scriptures.
The Bible contains the history of human sin, providence and redemption, along with the experiences of the righteous doctrine, precepts and promises. The Bible teaches us about our relationship with God, about sin and salvation, and about how to live and how to die. Its message is powerful and its life transforming. The Psalmist stated that God’s Word is a lamp unto [our] feet and a light unto [our] path (Psalms 119:105).
The Bible is an inspired book written by men who knew God, loved and obeyed Him.
II Timothy 3:16-17
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
The Bible was written over a period of 1600 years and deals with men’s hopes, joys, anguish, ambitions and failures. The O.T. was written in Hebrew and the N.T. written in Greek. The first English translation of the N.T. was in 1557 A.D., and the first translation of the whole Bible was printed in 1560 A.D. The Bible, in whole or in part, has been translated into more than 2,530 languages and dialect.
